Working and living in Germany – A status report of a Slovak

Now 10 years are over when I have resolved to leave my native country Slovakia and to immigrate to Germany. Time for a review! This report should give all the people courage who also deal with a possible move to Germany.

Because I have seen no perspectives in Slovakia, I have taken the heavy step to leave my family and my native country and have immigrated with my small daughter to Germany. Of course before I left I informed me about my job perspectives. The information was reassuring for me that my Master degree within the EU is recognized. I started learning German language in Slovakia.

At that time on the basis of contacts with a Slovak friend, who lived in Rhineland, I have decided to move in the region Cologne / Bonn. All beginning is difficult, as everybody knows, but I got support from Slovaks from the region, which I have got to know via social networks (Facebook etc.). Intensely I have concentrated me to learn German. After 12 months I had my C1 certificate in the hands, while I worked in small jobs for financing us. I was used from SK usually to live with less money.Nevertheless, during this time I had to revise my picture from the Germans considerably. The majority was very friendly and helpful and the Cologne carnival event, shows me how much the Germans are able celebrate.

My next aim was to work as a teacher in Germany. In the beginning as a stand-in teacher and then as a jumper, I had reached the first financial security for myself and my daughter who had, by the way, at school no problems and had settled down even faster than me. In the meantime, I had also found my private luck in Germany.

Germany has an exemplary continuing education system. During my school activity I have educated further myself to a recruiter and human resources consultant and then have searched the occupational entrance in a company. My linguistic proficiency in Slavic languages has helped me in it. Quick I have noticed that this occupation is my appeal; the contact with people and the fact to provide them with a sensible support to do the next career step.

My next aim was to get independent and self-employed. I know from my activity as a recruiter the German, Czech and Slovak job market. I know from own experience the hurdles and worries of the candidates and the wishes of the customers. And I saw a possibility to fight against the menacing skilled worker's shortage in Germany. I have carried out this step in 2013. I specialize me only in projects I am skilled in. I interpose Czech and Slovak skilled workers into jobs in Germany. The intensive support of my candidates and customers is eminently important to me. To complete my support offer, I started a continuing education in 2016 to become a personal image coach. I offer business coaching to my candidates as well as to my customers in the companies.

Today I look at a successful professional development, an occupation with is my appeal and a happy family life. For me Germany is the country of my dreams. However, I remain in the heart a Slovak and have meanwhile a house in Slovakia and attend regularly my family and friends.

With pleasure I am available to you with words and deeds, if you also want to venture this step! Appeal to me: Beata Teichmann
